I have the hormonal one. I also have a cervix and uterus that tilt at opposite angles, so it took 4 tries and 3 docs to get mine in. AND HELL YES IT IS SOOOOOO WORTH IT. And when I finally got to the expert of all experts at IUD insertion (seriously, she’s the lady who has been championing IUD insertion for teens and never pregnant ladies) it took 1 dose of misoprostol dissolved in my cheeks a few hours before the appointment, 1 large dose of valium 20 minutes before the procedure, and then 5 minutes to get it in. And that’s with my super complicated not normally found in nature anatomy.

And I love the fuck out of this thing. Really. I like Rick Astley love this thing. Never gonna give it up.

I think it’s good to just give yourself the space to write the bad out of your skin, and if a fictional character who frightens you takes form in that space, that’s okay. I think it’s good for the brain to have a mechanism for exorcising the miserable shit, the scary shit, that hangs out inside all of us. and I do mean all of us.

So I watch a lot of movies and shit about revenge. Like Netflix has me pegged and offers me “dark movies with a strong female lead and a revenge theme” SERIOUSLY. And boyfriend for the first few months we were dating gave me SO. MUCH. SHIT. about it. Like “watch out or else she’s gonna put sugar in your gas tank” kinda shit. But the thing is, I am so not vengeful. I mean I am gonna walk out of your life and cut off contact forever, but I am not gonna do anything else to hurt someone. But I like watching things where people don’t walk away cause it’s not me. And I like watching Hannibal because 1) it’s a crime show that isn’t exploiting women for the most part. and 2) Hannibal kills the rude. No faux Dexter morality of only killing other monsters. Nope. Hannibal kills the rude. And the part of me who will makes giant fucking scenes if you cut in line or steal the disabled parking or any of other serious breaches of everyday etiquette LOVES THAT. Because I throw tantrums, I don’t murder people.
