I write kickass death scenes, if I do say so myself.
Also I will bring all the woobie.
Um, since there is nothing to be proud of in what little writing I do as it is ALL rp, I shall try my art.
I am proud of….my noses. My favourite thing. I love my noses. And I guess the way I color lips sometimes? It’s hardly anything fancy, but I like to look at ‘em.a
So, yes. c:For my writing: I’m really good at dialogue. When I get into a few characters’ heads, I can get them talking, and for fanfic, they sound right. I can hear their voices, see the body language, the expressions… when I’ve done it well. Not all my dialogue is golden, but when I get it right, it’s good.
(ack, this feels so weird)
I once had someone tell me that they were not surprised that I’ve done a lot of playwriting. My dialogue is, by far, my strongest point of my writing. I really spend a lot of time trying to get into a character’s headspace and to make them sound authentic, even if the character is an OC.
I’d say that evoking an unpleasant environment is a close second. I don’t do modern, period. People in my fiction don’t bathe daily, use chamber pots/outhouses/non-21st century plumbing, don’t wash their clothes every day, and walk in streets filled with horse droppings and human droppings and mud. I keep that in mind when writing about their lives. Even the nice-looking ones, even the upper-class ones…they probably smell a little funny to most of my readers.
Every now and again I write a snippet and it’s twisty and evocative and instead of thinking “Oh, for fuck’s sake, Reg. Who do you think you are?” I’m like, “Cool. I did that with my fingers and my brain.”
And then I fist bump myself and debate on whether or not I should keep it.
Hrrm… it’s been a while since I’ve written much that I’ve let other people read. However, I’ve been told I handle description well. I’m really proud of that because I used to write stories that were nearly all dialogue. I had to make a real conscious effort to describe anything. That it apparently paid off, makes me proud.
As for art, I like how I draw eyes. They’re the first thing that I draw in any picture and it’s only a lot of restraint that keeps me from posting a million pictures of nothing but eyes.
Fights. I actually think I write fighting, sniping, combat, arguments, etc, decently. I think I’m also getting the hang of being able to handle banter in fighting, like quipping while moving. Every now and then I write a fight scene and I look at it and feel a little smug and giddy and think “Wow, B, you did that!”
I write the ever-loving fuck out of some cuss words. I am the queen of the bitchez and top o’ the shit heap when it comes to the use of salty damn language.
